Every practice.
Every parade. Every plunge.

School days, parades, festivals, the Polar Plunge, and a lot of smiling in between. These are the people who make the sound.

Golden hour

An ocean apart.
A tradition together.

We are pipers, drummers, learners, and friends. What brings us together is the music—and the pleasure of sharing it.

Isle of Maui Pipe Band is an all-volunteer group keeping Highland piping and drumming alive on Maui. Our sound belongs in a street parade, at a festival, beside a wedding, and wherever people gather for a meaningful moment.

There is room here to begin, to improve, and to contribute. Free instruction helps new players find their first notes and rhythms, while experienced musicians bring the ensemble to life.

01

A living tradition.

The Great Highland bagpipe. Snare, tenor, and bass drums. Musical traditions passed from one player to the next.

02

Time for each other.

A volunteer band grows through practice, patience, and showing up. Learning together is part of belonging.

03

A little aloha.

Maui is part of who we are. We bring that sense of place and community to the music we share.

Hawaiʻi’s own tartan.
Worn by our band since 2005.

In 1997 the Caledonian Society of Hawaiʻi held a contest to design an official Hawaiian state tartan. Douglas Herring of Oʻahu came up with the winning design: mostly blue and green hues for the water, sky and foliage of Hawaiʻi, with yellow and red for the lava that formed the islands and for the aliʻi, Hawaiʻi’s royalty.

In 2005 our band, then called Maui Celtic Pipes and Drums, adopted the Hawaiian tartan as our official kilt plaid. We are currently the only pipe band in the world to proudly wear this tartan.
